Gabriela Rodas, an 18-year-old Latina woman, was shot during a domestic dispute in the 2000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Boyle Heights about 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.

Officers from the Hollenbeck Division responded to a report of a suicide at a home. When they arrived, they found Rodas with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. She was taken to L.A. County-USC Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Police detained the girl’s Latino boyfriend, Moises Enrique Martinez, 24, for questioning. Hours later, he was booked on suspicion of murder, said Officer Karen Smith of the LAPD’s media relations office. Police said that Martinez pulled out a gun during an argument with Rodas, and allegedly shot her in the back of the head.
