Charles Santisteban, a 43-year-old Latino, died of several gunshot wounds Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at his home in the 300 block of East La Verne Avenue in Pomona, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Santisteban was shot in his driveway as he was getting ready to leave for work at the Southern California Gas Co. He was one of two gas company employees killed by the same man, police say.

Police suspect Phong Thuc Tran, 36, shot and killed Hung Duy Dao, 37, a seven-year energy technician, about 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, in the parking lot of a Southern California Gas Co. facility in Anaheim. Authorities say Tran then fatally shot Santisteban in his Pomona driveway as he prepared to leave for work the next morning.

Santisteban had worked for the company for 20 years and was manager for offices in Alhambra and Pasadena, company officials said.

Tran was found in his SUV outside the Anaheim police station about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, authorities said. He died two nights later.
