As the Ticket reported earlier, today is the 48th birthday of President Obama. But it also happens to be the birthday of someone who has been a White House regular since the Kennedy administration.

That someone is legendary reporter Helen Thomas. Name a president since Kennedy — Nixon, Carter, Reagan — she’s grilled them all.

Thomas turned 89 today, and Obama surprised her with cupcakes and his own rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ in the White House pressroom.

The president joked— actually, maybe he wasn’t joking — that he and Thomas had the same birthday wish: A healthcare reform bill.

We don’t know what astrologers would say about Thomas, but follow this link for their take on what the astrologers say about the president.

As for the photo below, that’s Thomas with another White House occupant. (And lest we forget, Happy Birthday, Helen!)
