Donald Trump had a busy day on Monday disparaging two of the most well-known men in their fields: Nobel Prize-winning President Obama and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro.
The billionaire’s fireworks began this morning on ‘Fox & Friends’ when he was asked to comment on what De Niro had said this weekend on NBC.
‘I won’t mention names, but certain people in the news the last couple weeks, just, what are they doing?’ De Niro said referring to the Trump’s favorite subject, the ‘birther’ issue. ‘It’s crazy. They’re making statements about people that they don’t even back up. Go get the facts before you start saying things about people.’
Eventually the actor did mention Trump’s name and continued his argument. ‘It’s like a big hustle; It’s like being a car salesman. Don’t go out there and say things unless you can back them up. How dare you? That’s awful to do. To just go out and speak and say these terrible things? Unless you just wanna get over and get the job. It’s crazy,’ De Niro said.
Trump, who says he will let the world know about his plans to run for president on the finale of his television show, ‘The Apprentice’, responded by saying De Niro ‘is not the brightest bulb on the planet.’
‘I’ve been watching him over the years and I like his acting, but in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we’re not dealing with Albert Einstein,’ Trump told the three hosts of the Fox morning show. ‘He can say what he wants, but the fact is that [Obama] has not revealed his birth certificate.’ Later the real estate mogul suggested that Obama wasn’t smart enough to be accepted into the two Ivy League colleges that he graduated from, and that the president should reveal his school records too.
‘I heard he was a terrible student, terrible,’ Trump said in an interview with the Associated Press. ‘How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard? I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records.’
Obama transferred to Columbia University in New York in 1983 from Occidental College. He then went to Harvard Law School where he graduated magna cum laude in 1991.
‘I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can’t get into Harvard,’ Trump told the Associated Press. ‘We don’t know a thing about this guy. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered about our president.’
