Ask Long Beach Poly Coach Raul Lara if the Jackrabbits, among the most highly touted teams in the state and the nation, are legit and for real, and he isn’t shy about agreeing with the pollsters.

The Jackrabbits (1-0) are ranked No. 2 in the Southland by The Times. In national rankings, they are No. 11 according to USA Today’s prep football Super 25 preseason poll, which is still in effect because some teams have not played, and they moved from No. 26 to No. 12 in Rivals.com’s Fab 50 rankings as a result of a 21-13 victory over Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville on Saturday.
