Earlier this week I called out Saugus and said it was time for the Centurions to finally make a statement that they won’t be pushovers this season. Well, they must have been inspired by my challenge (yeah, right) because they waited to the last second to put away perennially strong Westlake, 33-28.

Check out the story on what’s got to be one of the greatest games in Centurions’ history. Also, I have to apologize to Saugus QB Desi Rodriguez. Just last night, I was telling another reporter I didn’t think ‘he has what it takes’ to be an effective passer. Well, he proved me dead wrong with his big, clutch play.

As for Westlake, I still think they’re a pretty darn good team (I put them at No. 25 in my poll this week), but I knew there was a reason why I picked them not to repeat as Marmonte League champs.
