You can’t say that Birmingham Coach Ed Croson doesn’t take risks.

On fourth and six from the Notre Dame 41-yard line with 1:29 left in the second quarter, he went for it, and his son, quarterback Morey Croson, completed a 20-yard pass to Kyle Lard. On the next play, Milton Knox scored his second touchdown of the night, running 16 yards and giving the Patriots a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Notre Dame fans might be in a little bit of a panic mode, but remember 2000, when the Knights fell behind Birmingham, 25-9, then rallied to win.

Notre Dame has yet to lose to the Patriots in five games, but this is the best Birmingham team the Knights have faced, according to their coach, Kevin Rooney.

Birmingham, the defending City Section champion, has a chance to sock it to another Southern Section, having knocked off Long Beach Poly two weeks ago. Only 24 minutes left. And Knox has already rushed for 79 yards in 17 carries.
