After getting three of its passes picked off in the first quarter, Carson intercepted a pass by Poly quarterback Morgan Fennell early in the second quarter, but the Colts were unable to capitalize.

Then, who else but Vaughn Telemaque, who made two of the first-quarter interceptions, stepped in front of and snagged another pass, this one thrown by Carson senior Dominique Blackman, at the Poly 45-yard line.

Sophomore running back Cory Westbrook completed a zig-zagging run to the end zone on the next play to give the Jackrabbits (2-1), ranked No. 12 in The Times’ top 25 poll, a 17-0 advantage after another conversion kick by Heinze with 2:48 to go before halftime.
