There’s so many people trying to get out of Larrabee Stadium and they’re blocking the path up the grandstands to the press box at Ventura High. So, I might as well talk about Oaks Christian’s Southern Section-record 48-game winning streak coming to an end.

Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell remained philosophical about the streak, but didn’t seem too sad about its demise.

‘I think it was nice, but we have to look ahead,’ he said after the Lions’ 41-33 loss to St. Bonaventure. ‘You have to give credit to St. Bonaventure for playing like they did. I don’t want to take anything away from them.’

Redell said tonight’s loss, in which the Lions nearly staged a comeback after falling behind 33-7, was a blessing in disguise.

‘It’s only going to make us stronger,’ he said. ‘I feel like we’re much stronger because of it.’
