The calm before the blowout

My destination for tonight is Westminster High School, where Huntington Beach Marina is scheduled to host Colton.

This should be a good lesson for Marina, which is also expected to get steamrolled in Sunset League play. That said, there’s a couple reasons why I chose this game:

1. There’s nothing better going on tonight.

2. I want to scout Colton defensive end Damien Holmes, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound senior who has committed to UCLA.

3. I want verify that Colton Coach Harold Strauss is eating right and getting enough excercise after that scare last winter.

4. While I still can, I like eavesdropping on Marina coaches and players as they melt down when the score gets out of hand.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. I predict the Yellowjackets are leading for good by 7:10 and the first Marina helmet gets thrown by 7:30.

See ya there!
