Some quick observations about the first half:

The biggest play thus far is the forced fumble and recovery by Centennial strong safety K.J. Vaifale inside the Husky five late in the first half. Centennial was about to go down, 17-0, and that could have thrown its offensive gameplan out the window.

The Inland Empire is well represented here and should be proud.

The Times’ Mater Dei sideline blogger, Martin Henderson, thinks the Monarchs will wear down Centennial in the second half. I strongly disagree. I watched the Huskies wear down both Dominguez and Crespi with their no-huddle offense and I think that will happen again. Mater Dei has five starters going both ways, as well.

It was also big that Centennial kept Mater Dei’s defense on the field at the end of the first half, because Centennial will be back on offense to start the second.
