It’s all tied up at 10-10 in the battle of No. 1 Mater Dei vs. No. 2 Corona Centennial with six minutes left in the second quarter, and what’s clear is that Centennial’s no-huddle offense out of a shotgun formation is bothering the Monarchs, who haven’t figured out how to handle Centennial quarterback Matt Scott on the option play.

Scott has a 78-yard run and broke off another long run that was nullified because of a holding penalty.

Running back Ryan Bass has a 37-yard run and has gained 112 yards in 17 carries. The way things are going, Mater Dei’s defense is going to get very tired if it doesn’t start containing the Huskies’ option. Just ask the Crespi and Dominguez players how they felt in the fourth quarter of their losses to Centennial.
