From the Press Box: Stats are piling up

It’s nonstop offensive action here at Santa Ana Stadium, and the offensive stats are piling up for Mater Dei and Corona Centennial in a game that’s tied, 17-17, with 3:16 left in the second quarter.

Centennial QB Matt Scott is unstoppable at times. He has rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown and completed a pass for 66 yards. Ryan Bass has rushed for 115 yards.

For Mater Dei, QB Matt Barkley has completed 12 of 19 passes for 192 yards. His cousin, Robbie Boyer, has caught five passes for 106 yards. Every offensive possession is going to be so important with each team able to move the ball seemingly at will.
