UCLA lands volleyball standout Kyle Caldwell

Kyle Caldwell, a 6-foot-7 senior from Newport Harbor who had scholarship offers for basketball and volleyball, said Tuesday has decided to play volleyball for UCLA.

Caldwell (pictured left during his sophomore year) had a basketball scholarship offer from UC Santa Barbara.

He’s considered one of the top volleyball players in Southern California.

‘I have a better chance in volleyball,’ he said of his decision.

He still intends to play basketball for Newport Harbor this season.
