Top-seeded Mira Costa has a chance to win its second prestigioius tournament in two weeks this weekend when the Mustangs compete in the Torrey Pines California Challenge today/Friday and Saturday at four sites in the San Diego area.

USC-bound senior setter Kendall Bateman, Miami-bound senior outside hitter Lane Carico and sophomore right-side hitter Falyn Fonoimoana, who each made the all-tournament team as the Mustangs (15-0) won the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas last weekend, will lead the defending Division II state-champions in pool play beginning at 4 p.m. today with a match against Bakersfield Christian, the defending Division V state champion.

Marymount, the defending Division IV state champion, also is in the draw, along with 2006 Division III state runner-up Laguna Beach, 2006 Southern California regional finalists La Costa Canyon and San Diego Parker and Southern regional semifinalists San Diego Cathedral Catholic and Solana Beach Santa Fe Christian.
