Made it out to Corona Santiago from the city of Orange in two hours, enjoying a spectacular sunset along the way. Too bad this field isn’t as pleasant to the eye. The frozen tundra in Green Bay looks better than this plot of dead grass.

Talking with Norco Coach Todd Gerhart earlier, he seemed to be in a pretty relaxed mood for a game day, but then I remembered his oldest son, Toby, is a running back for Stanford and you know what they did last weekend. Toby didn’t make the trip to USC because he’s injured and Todd didn’t bother watching the game.

‘I was mowing the grass and my wife came outside screaming,’ he said of Stanford’s 24-23 stunning upset of the No. 1 Trojans.

Looks like this game is going to be the defensive standoff I expected. Both teams punted on their first possessions and seem to be playing for field position.
