Got into the stadium a few minutes late to find Dominguez already down a player.

Davion Biddle had scored on a 12-yard run to give Dominguez a 7-0 lead after Kevin Villa’s conversion kick.

On Gahr’s ensuing possession, Dominguez senior linebacker Maurice Simmons, who has committed to USC, took a hit, landed awkwardly and suffered what appeared to be a broken left lower leg or ankle. Or maybe both.

It wasn’t pretty, as the limb swelled up immediately and looked to be fractured somewhere between the knee and the ankle.

Simmons, pictured above and to the right, with his brother Marquis, was tended ton on the field first by trainers and then by Compton Fire Department paramedics for about 20 minutes before he was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

I’ll get an update on Simmons and his condition as soon as possible.

His mother, Kathleen Simmons, told the Dons what to do before she left to accompany her son to the hospital.

‘Win this game,’ she said as walked beside the rollaway stretcher while holding Simmons’ hand.
