I don’t know what it is about College of the Canyons, but every time I come here to cover/blog a game, I have the hardest time trying to find viewing turf on the sidelines.

A couple months ago, I thought Hart held the record for most people it allowed on the sidelines, but now I’m starting to think cross-town rival Saugus could hold that mark. I counted more than 40 non-team and media personnel on the sidelines and, believe me, it’s not always easy to see what’s going on when you’ve got people constantly moving back and forth in front of you.

Oh well, at least it shows these folks have some school spirit. Although, I have to say there were more people at the Week 1 Hart-Moorpark game than are here tonight.

Game update: Well, Valencia got onto the scoreboard just before halftime with a great, 52-yard TD catch by Sean Maxoutopoulis (whew!), but Saugus was the one with a 27-7 lead after 24 minutes.

QB Desi Rodriguez has 165 yards and a TD and RB Ryan Zirbel has 122 yards and three TDs, including a 73-yarder late in the second quarter, in 10 carries.

The Vikings’ TD was a definite confidence-builder, but their defense has got to find a way to stop the Centurions from running amok.
