On the SGVT blog some disgruntled Spartans fans were calling for Scott Morrison’s resignation as Damien’s coach immediately following the 34-33 loss to Ayala Friday night.

‘Coach Scott Morrison and his entire staff should be fired for the worst coaching in a HS game ever,’ one poster, under the moniker dhs fan, wrote. ‘Damien used their time outs (sic) at the end of the game to let Ayala set up their offense. Did not use the clock wisely. HAS NO CLUE ON WHAT TO DO ON A ONSIDE KICK. This was a discrase (sic) to be so unprepared all season.’

Another one wrote: ‘Travers, Fire Scott Morrison right now and bring in Monger!!!This (expletive) we have to watch is a joke and we’re paying a lot of money to watch it.’

That’s harsh, Damien ‘fans,’ but I understand why you must feel that way. I mean, you were up by 12 points with about 2 minutes left. A fumble at the Ayala one keeps the Bulldogs alive and kills a drive that had eaten up more than eight minutes.

The decision on how to cover the onside was Paris Hilton-like, which is to say dumb. Still, take it easy on the high school coach -- it’s not an easy job.
