I gotta say that, obviously, I’m completely shocked Oak Park defeated Oaks Christian, ranked No. 21 by this newspaper, on Friday night, 25-20.

I knew that Oak Park deep down had what it takes to win the ‘big one,’ but following losses to above-average opponents Newbury Park and Camarillo, I just didn’t think the Eagles had what it takes to play a consistently strong game for 48 minutes -- especially against a ‘been there, done that’ program like Oaks Christian.

And following five consecutive losses to the Lions, I didn’t think this would be the year Oak Park would finally hold up its end of a ‘rivalry game’ that has been completely one-sided.

But I shouldn’t feel too bad because pretty much everyone was wrong about this one. At the beginning of the season, I said the Eagles had a chance against Oaks Christian and then, just the other day, I blogged I was wrong about my late-August prediction.

All I know is that if the Eagles keep everything on the tracks, the Tri-Valley League title should be theirs by early November.
