North Hollywood (6-3, 5-0) claimed at least a share of the Sunset Six League championship by defeating Grant, 38-17, on Friday. The Huskies have gotten back several players who were injured earlier in the season and are peaking at the right time -- five consecutive wins with one league game remaining against Canoga Park on Nov. 9.

In other years North Hollywood could expect no worse than to be seeded fourth in the Invitational Division playoffs. They may still get it.

But the waters are so muddy this year with 33 teams trying to fit into 16 slots. About the only sure thing is Eagle Rock, which will be the top-seeded team in the Invitational field if it wins out against Wilson and Franklin. After that, Armageddon.

For example, there are three teams -- Garfield, Marshall and Monroe -- that probably won’t win their leagues but have played competitive schedules and should finish with seven to nine wins. Both Monroe and Marshall shut out North Hollywood in head-to-head meetings. And we’ve yet to figure where Fairfax and Reseda enter the conversation.

The playoff seeding meeting on Nov. 10 could be a long one.
