No flashy intro, just the Three-And-Out.

First Down: The upsets. Expect to see big changes in my SGV Top 10. You could see Muir go all the way up to No. 2 (more on the Mustangs below) and St. Francis might also get into the top 5 after its victory over Alemany. Arcadia is going to drop, as will Northview and Bishop Amat (the Lancers lost to Crespi, 55-5. Wow!).

Second Down: No. 1. One spot in the my Top 10 that won’t change, however, is the top one. Charter Oak made it crystal-clear it is the area’s best team with its 49-21 victory over Los Altos. Senior Kaanan Snowden and sophomore Adam Muema combined for four touchdowns and 238 of the team’s 404 yards. One sad note: a Los Altos player had to be airlifted to USC Medical Center at halftime. No word on his condition.

Third Down: Muir. After losing to Oaks Christian and Franklin to start the year, the Mustangs (6-2) have been on an impressive six-game winning streak, crushing their opponents in the process. Their game against Arcadia (7-1) this week was no different. As the PSN noted: ‘Muir dominated Arcadia in every aspect of the game and outgained the Apaches 457 yards to 363.’ A key to the ‘Stang victory was limiting potent RB Troy Amhaz to only 76 rushing yards. The two could meet again in the Central Division playoffs.

Punt: Muir’s Willie Youngblood, who torched the Arcadia defense for 259 yards in 25 carries, told the PSN that the secret to his team’s turnaround has been the ‘Stangs’ mentality; they approach every game like they are the underdog: ‘Even though we’re still winning, we still have to fight like we’re losing,’ Youngblood said. ‘Our backs were to the wall and we came out just swinging.’
