Canyon MLB Corey McLaughlin has a sprained ankle and there’s a chance he might not play in Friday’s Foothill League playoff decider against Valencia. McLaughlin suffered the injury in the first half of Canyon’s 18-14 loss to Saugus.

‘Right now, he’s got a sprain and he’s day-to-day,’ Canyon Coach Chris Varner said. ‘We’re doing some treatment and there’s a chance he could play on Friday, but only if he’s safe and can be competitive.’

McLaughlin is one the Cowboys’ key defensive starters and you know everybody in Canyon Country is pulling for him to suit up in a game the defending Division I state bowl champs must win to make the postseason.
