A horse is a horse, unless it’s Rancho Verde of course

Rancho Verde has sure dropped from the mountain top. The Mustangs were the No. 1 team in the Central Division for much of the season, then lost two games in four days to Moreno Valley and Norco. Now, they’re not even seeded among the top four.
That’s not such a bad deal for Rancho Verde, but it’s a bummer for Colton. The Yellowjackets were seeded third, but will have to play Rancho Verde in the second round if both win their openers Friday.
I’d have to say both those teams are better than top-seeded Colony and second-seeded Chaffey. Colony has not allowed a point in its last three games, but those were against opponents that were a combined 7-23. The only decent team the Titans played was Serrano, and they lost, 49-14.

How good is Chaffey then? The Tigers lost by 21 points to Colony, that’s how good they are. And then there’s fourth-seeded Muir, a non-Inland Empire team that hasn’t ventured south of Arcadia.
I’ll even bet San Gabriel Valley blogger Jaime Cardenas that the Mustangs aren’t even the best horsies in this bracket (see Rancho Verde).
That said, I predict the real Mustangs will advance to the championship game against Colony, with Rancho Verde squeaking out a 21-20 victory.
