Most in attendance at tonight’s Northern Division quarterfinal playoff game between St. Bonaventure and Westlake will be there to see Darrell Scott and the top-seeded Seraphs move a step closer to an appearance in the title game. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if most of those very same onlookers come away impressed with Cooper Shockley, when all is said and done.

Sure, Scott receives more publicity. He is, after all, one of the top recruits in the nation, a truly gifted athlete. Shockley’s numbers are surprisingly comparable. The senior has rushed for 1,230 yards, only 161 fewer than Scott. And his 15 receptions for 127 yards are nearly twice as many as Scott’s. Shockley has found the end zone nine times, though, and his counterpart has 17 touchdowns.

Ultimately, Shockley could be the difference, especially if he can effectively run the ball and keep Scott on the sidelines for a little bit longer than he’s used to. A Warriors’ upset would leave a lasting impression. Shockley could end up being the one everyone remembers -- at least for a night. That would be impressive.
