Lakewood girls’ volleyball escapes shadows of Mira Costa and Redondo

Their shadows loom large, Lakewood Coach Mike Wadley told me last week, referring to Mira Costa and Redondo, two legendary girls’ volleyball programs.

But perhaps the shadows aren’t so big any more after the Lancers won their first state crown in any sport in school history after knocking off Nevada Union in the Division I championship at San Jose State on Saturday.
