St. Bonaventure Coach Todd Therrien has a message he will drill into his team this week as it prepares for its state Division III bowl championship showdown with Modesto Central Catholic (11-1-1) Saturday in the Home Depot Center stadium.

Have fun.

It’s the same message he preached before the Seraph’s 42-28 victory over Hart last Saturday in the Southern Section’s Northern Division title game. Before the game, St. Bonaventure (13-1) could be heard whooping it up loudly in the tunnel entrance.

‘’We made a big deal about playing this game and having fun,’ Therrien said. ‘I think when you come out and have fun, that’s when you play your best football.... Hart was a big meal, but like my little sister says you’ve always got a special spot in your stomach for dessert. And [the state game] is dessert.’
