Heading into Saturday’s Division III state bowl game between St. Bonaventure and Modesto Central Catholic, there’s been a lot of talk about standout RBs Darrell Scott and Louis Bland. But, to take a page out of the John Madden guide to color commentary, let’s not forget about those guys in the trenches -- the offensive linemen.

Anchored by 6-foot-4 guard Vaughn Dotsy and center Chris Perham, the Seraphs offensive line is definitely one of the best in the state. It ripped big holes in the experienced Saugus D-line in the Southern Section Northern Division semifinals and its speed and size has allowed Scott and QB Casey Serna to emerge as one of the deadliest offensive duos around.

The boys over at Central Catholic are no pushover, either. Behind Oregon State-bound center Dominic Galas, the O-line has played an integral role in helping the Raiders average more than 336 rushing yards a game.

So, whoever does the better job of opening the holes, stopping the blitzes and moving the defense will be a shoe-in for their very first state bowl title. I still think St. Bonny’s O-line is a little better than Central Christian’s due to its size advantage, but I guess we’ll definitely find out who’s the best on Saturday afternoon.
