Finally, something positive to write about in San Bernardino.

After a dreadful fall season for city-based sports teams in the San Andreas League, the Cajon girls’ basketball team won the Gold Division at the Chandler (Ariz.) tournament (aka the Nike Tournament of Champions) on Saturday night.

The Cowboys routed Chandler Hamilton, 67-35, leaving many in the stands wondering why the heck they weren’t playing in the tougher Black Division. Because nobody expects anything good to come out of San Bernardino, that’s why.

Now, it’s on to the Ayala tournament (aka the Best in the West), where Cajon (7-1) will take on San Juan Capistrano Serra (aka JSerra) on Wednesday morning. Now that’s a tough test, playing at 9:30 a.m. the day after Christmas.
