Take a glance at Courtney Carroll’s line from Monday’s 63-42 victory for Palos Verdes girls’ basketball over Venice: 15 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and five blocks. Typical.

Carroll leads the Sea Kings in points (18.7) and rebounds (8.2) while always having a little extra company on the floor -- she’s either double- or triple-teamed. ‘She’s battling right through that,’ Coach Coach Steve Vander Veen told the Daily Breeze. She’s got great passing and gives other kids great looks, and she gets chances for herself as well.’
