The Corona Centennial wrestling team won the Riverside County championships Saturday, but the best story was the Estrada brothers from Perris -- Ramon, Alfonso and Thomas.

Ramon defeated Centennial’s J.T. Felix to win the 152-pound title. Alfonso came up next and beat Jordan Willette of Elsinore for the 160-pound championship, and Thomas took the 170-pound division with a decision over Brett Jack of Centennial.

Those Estrada family barbecues must be fun.

Alfonso was selected upper-weight most valuable wrestler, and the lower-weight MVW went to Jon Lawson of Palm Desert, who defeated Chad Thornack of San Jacinto in the 119-pound final.

Thornack is apparently moving up from the 103-pound division, where he finished seventh in state as a sophomore last season.

Estevan Cabanas of Canyon Springs, who was fourth in state at 103 last year, wrestled in the 112-pound class, where he shut out Randy Tinoco of Centennial, 2-0.

Of course, all of these wrestlers would have had a much tougher road if defending champion Temecula Valley had competed. However, the Golden Bears hosted their own tournament this year, and won that too.
