Girls’ soccer: No. 1 Los Alamitos at No. 3 Esperanza on Thursday

Los Alamitos has a chance to further solidify its top spot in the Southern Section Division I rankings when the Griffins travel to take on third-ranked Esperanza in a Sunset League match on Thursday.

The Griffins (14-3-3, 4-0) maintained their top ranking this week, and Long Beach Wilson (16-1-3, 6-0) moved up to No. 2. The Bruins beat the Griffins, 1-0, in November. The Aztecs (13-1-3, 3-0-1), after allowing only six goals in their first 15 games, have given up three goals in the last two. Not sure if that means they are struggling, though. They did win both games.

Thursday’s game begins at 5 p.m. Bring your popcorn and a blanket.
