Man, there were a ton of great games on Friday night. Too bad some of them couldn’t have been played on Thursday when nothing really exciting was going on.

Well, I take that back -- there was one exciting game and it was Dos Pueblos9-5 victory over perennial Channel League champion Santa Barbara.

As usual, the Chargers’ youth movement was the main culprit behind handing the Dons only their third loss in 92 Channel League games. Sophomore Alex Hill scored three times, classmate Amanda Redfren added two and freshman TIera Schroeder also scored twice.

Freshman Kiley Neushul only scored once, but she still has everybody from Arroyo Grande to Corona del Mar raving about her as she continues to prove how aquatic bloodlines and competitive water polo training since age 7 has made her one of the most lethal scorers in the state.

The Chargers look set to grab the program’s first outright league title, but they’ll need to beat a talented Ventura squad on Tuesday to make that dream a reality.
