A little pesky wind and rain didn’t stop Dos Pueblos from continuing its dominant ways on Tuesday.
Thanks to a four-goal, first-quarter barrage spearheaded by freshman Kiley Neushul, the Royals proved they’re undoubtedly the best team in the Channel League with a 9-4 victory over Ventura. Neushul finished with a game-high four goals for Dos Pueblos, the top-ranked team in the Division II coaches’ poll.
So, it looks as if Dos Pueblos is a lock for its first league title in a couple of weeks. It’ll be interesting to see what this young, star-studded team can do in the postseason -- especially in the Masters Meet tournament, where it will get to take on Orange County’s best.
As for Ventura, I think Hannah Boydstun and the rest of the gang is fully capable of challenging perennial frontrunners Santa Barbara for second place. And they’ll splash it out on Thursday.
