View Park certainly established its credentials last season, winning the Crosstown League and City Section Small Schools championships, then reaching the second round of the Southern California regional playoffs.

But the Knights took a step up in class this season by moving to the Coliseum League. And it hasn’t been a misstep. View Park, 15-5 overall, is 7-0 in league going into tonight’s game against winless Manual Arts. The Knights have a half-game lead on Crenshaw, thanks to a 39-38 victory at View Park on Jan. 11.

When asked if the Knights, who only have two seniors, were ahead of schedule, Coach Denise Woods replied, ‘I think they are right on time. Last year was frustrating sometimes because we were in the Crosstown League, and the girls wanted to play bigger schools. This year has been a coming of age.’
