Well, I see what all the fuss is about. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis would probably get my vote as the best freshman basketball player in Orange County -- at least, based on the eight minutes I just watched -- and I just saw Brea’s Justine Hartman play.

Lewis hit at least two three-pointers in the first quarter for Mater Dei -- I was looking down trying to blog, so I might have missed one three-pointer -- and has at least eight points as the Monarchs opened up an 18-12 lead over Mira Costa in the first quarter of their Nike Extravaganza game tonight at Mater Dei High.

Lewis is really smooth on the court. Doesn’t appear at all hesitant like a freshman. Not yet anyway. Let’s see what happens if the game gets closer.
