Westchester Coach Ed Azzam, pictured, was listing the things his boys’ basketball team had to do to in order to beat Western League rival Fairfax in their 7 p.m. showdown Wednesday at Loyola Marymount.

There were the usual generalities -- play tighter defense, have more confidence on offense -- then Azzam became more specific: ‘We can’t let [Renardo] Sidney run wild. We have to keep him away from the basket and the boards.’

When Fairfax beat Westchester, 68-63, on Jan. 18, the 6-foot-10 Sydney recorded 36 points and 19 rebounds. Both totals are season highs for the junior center. Sidney is averaging 23.7 points and 14 rebounds.

‘Cordell [Hadnot] and Dwayne [Polee] are going to have to do a good job,’ Azzam said. ‘And they’ll need some help from the guards.’
