How quickly they’ve gone from pretenders to contenders.

When El Camino Real lost two of its first three West Valley League games, it seemed only a matter of time until its seven-year reign as City Section champion was over. Not so fast. The Conquistadores haven’t lost since and, lo and behold, they’re looking like the team to beat once again.

Katie Etcher‘s 11th and 12th goals of the season lifted ECR to a 2-1 victory over rival Granada Hills on Wednesday, moving the Conquistadores into first place with one game left. If they beat Birmingham on Friday, Coach Eric Choi‘s players will wrap up yet another league title.
