Just debating something here...

Should I dig up an old Mafia movie line to crystallize my point for a boys’ soccer blog or just let it go?

Ah, what the heck.

In ‘Goodfellas,’ Ray Liotta’s character seethed this icy nugget of dialogue: ‘One day the kids from the neighborhood carried my mother’s groceries all the way home. You know why? It was outta respect.’

And so that takes us to our next topic, Animo boys’ soccer. The Southern Section gave Animo the No. 1 seeding in the Division IV playoffs. You know why? It was outta respect.

The Aztecs have won 11 consecutive matches, shut out eight opponents this season, and, in the past two seasons, they’re a brain-jarring 50-2-3. And don’t forget, they’re the defending division champions.

See, what I mean? Respect.

Ah, fuhgettaboutit.

Animo plays Friday at 3 p.m., hosting the winner of Wednesday’s Desert Christian-Victor Valley Christian wild-card match.
