Bell Coach Daniel Gallardo was not surprised the Eagles, seeded fourth, needed two overtimes to beat visiting Reseda, seeded 29th, 1-0 in their first round playoff game.

‘This was the fourth time we played them,’ Gallardo said. ‘We tied them 0-0 in the Locke tournament; beat them 3-1 in the Locke tournament final; and lost to them 1-0 in the San Pedro tournament. They knew us, we knew them. And they were not a ‘29th’ seed. They’re good enough to be a top 10 seed.’

Gallardo hopes his team, which hosts Locke, seeded 13th, on Tuesday, got the message sent by Reseda.

‘In the playoffs there are no easy games,’ he said.

Gallardo admits the Eagles are adjusting to the loss of two starters. Defender Omar Vargas broke his right leg three weeks ago and was lost for the season. In the Reseda game, midfielder Edgar Gonzalez fractured his right leg and is probably out the rest of the playoffs.
