City semifinals: Drew eager for title game against Fairfax

Point guard Larry Drew Jr. (pictured at right) had ravaged Fremont for 11 points, seven rebounds and 15 assists in Taft’s 77-51 victory in the City Section Championship Division semifinals Friday.

And he never looked like he broke a sweat at the Galen Center.

Drew may be cooler than dry ice, but there was fire in his eyes in talking about next week’s City title game against Fairfax.

‘All we see is ‘Fairfax’ on their jerseys,’ said Drew in talking about the defending City and state Division I champion.

‘Whatever they accomplished last year was last year. It’s a different team, we’re a different team. It’s a brand new year and anything can happen.’
