Knight football Coach Jim Bauer has resigned, according to the Antelope Valley Press. The long-time Antelope Valley-area high school football coach and a reporter’s dream when it comes to post-game questioning (the guy always gives great, candid remarks), is the only coach Knight has had in its five-year history.

Former varsity running backs coach and junior varsity head coach Corey Guilfoos will replace Bauer as head coach.

The always colorful Bauer has coached continuously in the Antelope Valley since 1990 when he started the Littlerock football program from scratch. In true Bauer-like fashion, the former Cal Lutheran player and assistant coach explained to the AV Press his reasoning for calling it quits:

‘I went 0-10 and fired myself.’

Despite last year’s forgettable campaign, Bauer compiled a 66-84-3 career high school coaching record, which included stops at Santa Clara and St. Bonaventure (he was an assistant with the Seraphs).
