As expected, long-time offensive coordinator Gary Fabricius has been named the new head football coach at Newbury Park. Fabricius was one of two final applicants who interviewed with Newbury Park Principal Athol Wong and Athletic Director Josh Eby on Monday before a final decision was made.

Former coach George Hurley, who retired in January after leading the program for the last 19 years, was pleased with the decision.

‘I think Gary is going to make a great head coach,’ Hurley said. ‘It’s not like the program needs to change directions. We’re happy with where it’s at and we’re going to continue in that capacity.’

Fabricius has taught and coached at Newbury Park since 1981.
