Behind a trademark 21-point performance by Klay Thompson, Santa Margarita soared into the Division III state championship game with a 67-39 victory over Bishop Montgomery in the Southern California Regionals on Saturday.

Sure, it was the only blowout of the day, but after having to put up with Mater Dei and Dominguez throwing a wrench into their league and Southern Section division aspirations, I’ll give the Eagles a proverbial pat on the back and wish them the best of luck next weekend when they play hometown favorite Sacramento for the state crown.
