Softball: I’m making a pitstop in Newhall

I was in the Newhall area this afternoon and I figured I’d go over to Hart and check out its Foothill League opener against West Ranch. I know this isn’t one of the most prolific showdowns ever, but who knows? Last year, West Ranch raised a lot of eyebrows when it handed the Indians a league opening loss.

Plus, it’s too nice of a day to stay locked inside the house. I needed to come out and enjoy the perfect springtime weather.

By the way, Hart’s Destiny Rodino is the real deal. The UCLA-bound pitcher is warming up in front of me while I’m typing this and all I keep hearing is the sizzling sound of ball as it cuts through the air followed by the loud smack of Jessica Shults’ catcher’s mitt.

I’ll check back in a little while to let you know how things pan out.
