No. 2 Orange Lutheran scores a 6-1 victory over No. 1 Mater Dei

The Trinity League baseball showdown between No. 1 Mater Dei and No. 2 Orange Lutheran ended with the Lancers coming away with a 6-1 victory Wednesday night at Mater Dei.

Sophomore Willie Shaw hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to wipe out a 1-0 deficit for Lutheran (13-2, 4-0). The Lancers added three runs in the sixth, two coming in on a bad-hop single by Tyler Smith.

Gerrit Cole was in control on the mound for Lutheran, allowing four hits while striking out 10 and walking one. He struck out the side in the seventh.
