Softball: Freshmen Feicker and Carson pushing Highland to top

I’m sure there are plenty of talented freshmen making their mark across SoCal softball fields, but can you think of anybody who has made more of an impact than Highland‘s freshman duo of Aryn Feickert and Alexis Cason?

Both have played leading roles in Highland’s 4-0 Golden League start and are among the top players in the Antelope Valley, despite their first-year status.

Feickert is definitely someone you should keep your eye on over the next four years. After Thursday’s 11-2 victory over Antelope Valley, Feickert has a 1.01 ERA and has struck out 129 batters in 83 innings en route to an 8-4 record.

Cason has a team-best .535 batting average along with four home runs and 16 RBIs.

But can these two lead the Bulldogs past Quartz Hill and Knight (which beat Lancaster on Thursday) for the league title? I think so, and I also think they could make Highland a much more competitive team in the years ahead.
