Track and field: Watch out for Arcadia’s Han in the high jump

Arcadia high jumper Karen Han missed out on going to the state championships last year and finished second to one of the state’s best in a meet earlier this season. So, as you can see, she has some unfinished business to attend to.

Han, a senior, gets a chance to show what she’s really made of this Saturday at the Arcadia Invitational. That’s if she can shake her nerves. According to a story in the Pasadena Star-News, the track star gets real nervous before she jumps. The incredible thing is, Han uses her nervousness to her advantage, writes reporter Keith Lair. On a sadder note, former Arcadia track and field coach Doug Smith died last week. Smith, who was 68, was one of the founders of the Arcadia Invitational, which begins its 41st year of competition on Friday. He lived a very interesting life.
