I had a feeling it would take more than 14 games to figure out who would be representing the Marmonte League in the playoffs -- and I was right.

Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks have finished the regular season tied for the league title and Royal finished third with a victory over Newbury Park on Wednesday. However, a three-way tie for fourth place between Westlake, Calabasas and Moorpark has forced a two-game, elimination round on Thursday and Friday to determine which team will earn the league’s final playoff seeding.

So here’s what you need to know:

Moorpark and Calabasas will play Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Simi Valley to determine who gets to play Westlake on Friday at Amgen Field in Thousand Oaks. Friday’s winner advances to next week’s Southern Section-Toyota Division I playoffs.

A point system used by the Marmonte League coaches determined Westlake as the ‘top-seeded’ fourth-place team with 28 points (the Warriors’ victories over Simi Valley and TO helped propelled it to the top). Calabasas finished with 23 points and Moorpark had 19.

Also, Simi Valley, which claimed a share of its first league title since 1993 this afternoon, won the coin toss to determine the league’s top seeding in playoffs.
