Matt Moreno’s second-inning grand slam propelled top-seeded Chatsworth to a 10-2 victory over eighth-seeded Palisades Friday in a City Section Championship Division quarterfinal game.

After Brett Whalen scored Palisades’ second run on a fielding error in the top of the sixth inning the Conquistadores answered in the bottom of the frame on a two-run single by Derek Neely, called up from the JV squad for the playoffs.

Scoring some runs was a good sign for the Chancellors, who scored just one in their first-round victory over 16th-seeded Poly. Chatsworth, the defending champion, hosts fourth-seeded Granada Hills Kennedy in the semifinals next Wednesday at 3 p.m.
